Edge class

Celebrity Cruises · 5 ships · all charted

3 rules hold across all 5 hulls, and 5 things do not. The exceptions are the reason not to quote a sister ship from memory.

None of this is written down anywhere. It is computed by comparing the 5 ship records field by field, so a class rule cannot drift from the hulls that carry it — add an exception to a ship and it appears here on the next build.

01

What every hull in the class shares

Byte-identical across every ship in the class. Learn it once.

Motion
Push hard for midship. Extreme forward is the one to rule out; extreme aft is a negative when there's comparable midship inventory, and more so if vibration also matters to them.
Vibration
Lower decks are generally better for motion, not worse — closer to the waterline. The catch is vibration: a low cabin at the back can still pick up the propulsion, so "go low" isn't automatically the right call for a sensitive traveller.
Family programme rules
Camp at Sea begins at age 3, and children in the 3–5 Shipmates group must be fully potty trained. There is no nursery or drop-off service for children under 3. Ages 13–17 use the separate teen programme, while late-night care from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. is an extra-charge service.

Category notes — on all 5

  • Treat an Edge Stateroom with Infinite Veranda as its own cabin design, not as a conventional balcony with a different name. Celebrity describes the room’s living area becoming the veranda at the touch of a button. If the client wants a separate outdoor platform, compare it with the Sunset Veranda or Deluxe Porthole View with Veranda categories, which Celebrity describes as outdoor step-out spaces. This is a preference tradeoff, not a verdict on which is better.

Where the hulls differ

The part that does not transfer. Everything here is one ship's, not the class's.

Every hull answers, differently

Where to bookdiffers by ship

Celebrity Edge
Decks 8 through 10 are the cabin-sandwich band on this hull. Deck 7 sits above mixed-use deck 6, while deck 11 sits below Luminae on cabin deck 12. Keep the choice midship and check the actual cabin rather than blessing every room in the band.
Celebrity Apex
Decks 8 through 10 are the cabin-sandwich band on this hull. Deck 7 sits above mixed-use deck 6, while deck 11 sits below Luminae on cabin deck 12. Keep the choice midship and check the actual cabin rather than blessing every room in the band.
Celebrity Beyond
Decks 8 through 11 are the cabin-sandwich band on this hull. Deck 7 sits above mixed-use deck 6; deck 12 is cabins only on the checked plan, with Luminae up on deck 16. Keep the choice midship and check the actual cabin rather than blessing every room in the band.
Celebrity Ascent
Decks 8 through 11 are the cabin-sandwich band on this hull. Deck 7 sits above mixed-use deck 6; deck 12 is cabins only on the checked plan, with Luminae up on deck 16. Keep the choice midship and check the actual cabin rather than blessing every room in the band.
Celebrity Xcel
Decks 8 through 11 are the confirmed cabin-sandwich band on this hull. Deck 7 sits above the upper level of The Bazaar on mixed-use deck 6, while deck 12 is cabins only. Keep the choice midship and check the actual cabin rather than extending this reviewed band into a full-deck claim.

Obstructed viewsdiffers by ship

Celebrity Edge
Celebrity marks view limitations by exact cabin and sells Partial View categories on Edge. Passenger reports identify two mechanisms: lifeboats below some solo cabins on decks 6 and 7, and the Magic Carpet support frame beside some starboard midship cabins. Treat both as cabin-specific checks, not deck-wide rules, and verify the current plan marker and category for the exact cabin.
Celebrity Apex
Nothing recorded for this hull — its sisters carry a note here and it does not.
Celebrity Beyond
Nothing recorded for this hull — its sisters carry a note here and it does not.
Celebrity Ascent
Nothing recorded for this hull — its sisters carry a note here and it does not.
Celebrity Xcel
Celebrity marks view limitations by cabin and sells Partial View categories on Xcel. Cruise Critic specifically identifies lifeboats just below many deck 6 windows; disclose that deck 6 mechanism, but do not call every marked cabin on decks 3 and 7–12 a lifeboat obstruction. Check the current plan symbol and category for the exact cabin.

Liftsdiffers by ship

Celebrity Edge
Edge's cabin decks have one elevator bank forward of center and one aft of center, with no central midship bank. For a mobility booking, balance the midship motion advantage against the walk to a lift and check the specific cabin's route.

Celebrity Beyond

Celebrity Ascent

Celebrity Xcel
Xcel's cabin decks have one elevator bank forward of center and one aft of center, with no central midship bank. For a mobility booking, balance the midship motion advantage against the walk to a lift and check the specific cabin's route.

One hull only

  • Category notesOn deck 3, check the exact overhead footprint before booking: cabins sit below a mixed deck of casino, restaurant and shop space. On deck 12, check the deck 14 footprint immediately above; a cabin 12148 report describes nighttime chair movement under the pool deck. These are location checks, not warnings against every cabin on either deck.

  • Ship-specific trapsThe Bazaar is an Xcel-specific experience, not an Edge-series class constant. Do not promise it on Edge, Apex, Beyond or Ascent because a client has seen it in Xcel material.
03

Class geometry

A deck stack counts as the class's only when every hull carries the same one. A single ship differing makes it that ship's data, not the class's.

Some hulls in this class carry a deck stack and others do not, so there is no class stack — see the individual ship pages.

That is a gap in what we have looked at, not a clean bill of health. Check this part of the booking the way you would without CruiseRead.

04

The ships

Every hull in the class, with what has been signed off on each.

Each ship page carries its own exceptions in context, alongside the shared rules they sit inside.

Sources are recorded per ship, not per class. Each hull's page carries what its calls were checked against and when.
